Here Comes the Bride

Now, Here is a move that is has an all-star cast but still managed to give equal screen time for each cast. Good job direk! (hehe) The movie is about swapping bodies to a person you are distantly alike to. The movie’s intelligent humor banks on the smooth transition of characters, which are both on the edge of the spectrum.

All it took was a solar eclipse and five-car collision atop the Magnetic Hill for the souls of five individuals --- the virginal bride-to-be (Angelica Panganiban), her histrionically litigious godmother (Eugene Domingo), her ringbearer's destitute nanny (Tuesday Vargas), her husband-to-be's amorous grandfather (Jaime Fabregas), and her gay beautician (John Lapuz) --- to switch bodies. With the bride-to-be's soul transferring to the godmother's body; the godmother's soul transferring to the nanny's body; the nanny's soul transferring to the grandfather's body; the grandfather's soul transferring to the beautician's body; and the beautician's soul transferring to the bride-to-be's body, the dream beach wedding turns into a hilarious riot, where long-dormant passions are awakened, sexual fantasies are fulfilled, economic alleviation is achieved, and a chance at love is obtained.

An unusual storyline that deviates from the typical Filipino comedy, the movie is sure to crack you up. And with Angelica Panganiban’s very entertaining portrayal of her character… this is a good movie to see, not to mention John lapuz’s comical portrayal of his as well. I am very happy to say that Here Comes the Bride is as current and relevant as it is entertaining and hysterical.

Here are some of my Favorite lines from the movie.
• There’s a gay man inside my body.
• Babae, sino ngayon ang bakla?
• Achieve na achieve!
• Lord, thank you for this face, this body… this pechay.
• Apir, apir, apir! Hindi na uso yan! Wisik wisik na lang. Masdan mo ang beauty ko, tataas ang kilay mo.

So, If you’re to watch a comedy movie… Watch this!

Laugh Out Loud

The film told the story of two sisters, Kimmy and Dora Go Dong Hae. Kimmy, having contracted typhoid when she was a child, grew up to be a genius and dictatorial woman. Dora, on the other hand grew up to be dumb-wit and fragile as she bumped her head to the toilet bowl during infancy. Kimmy is jealous of her twin as the latter was Johnson’s apple of the eye, the man Kimmy has a major crush on. When Kimmy found out that 80% of their business empire would go to Dora should their father die, she connived with Harry to abduct Dora, which the latter misunderstood. Harry’s cohorts abducted the wrong person as Kimmy pretended to be Dora in order to kiss Johnson. The Story of line the movie wasn’t bad at all. Since it’s a pinoy movie, I presumed it has a bad story line. I was wrong. Simple, but not bad.

Eugene domingo in all fairness is a great actress/comedienne. I love her humor on screen, wheter on television or the silver screen. She is very talented, no doubt. Her training at University of the Philippine’s Theater Arts program honed her talent and gave her witty humor and funny sarcasm. She executes her funny scenes well that is why I love her. She never fails to make me laugh. She is the only Philippine actress to have participated in six films produced by eight different Filipino production companies. She has also won different awards from different award giving bodies. Some of which include: Best supporting actress, Best Comedienne, and Best Marcelo award. Eugene domingo is no doubt a very talented actress and she is very well suited for the role of kimy and dora, two dysfunctional twins with very different personality. Eugene easily glides from one character to the other without having a hard time.

Kimmy Dora did not disappoint, in fact while I was watching it I was laughing the whole time with tears in my eyes. I watched the film dozens of times and I still laugh at the comical scenes and how Eugene domingo portrays the twins. The movie is hilarious. Come to think of it, this is her first starring role in a movie. Eugene domingo brought her A game and she made me laugh very hard. I almost fell in my seat at one point of the movie. The delivery of lines was right on cue and that made the experience more hilarious. Not to mention the cameo roles of some of the biggest stars in the movie industry today, there were a lot. Kimmy dora will always remain in my number one spot for the most hilarious movie in Philippine cinema!
